Training

Matron (traditional midwife)

In the Cradle of Humanity, Africa, the matrons or traditional midwives are those who deliver life out of the wombs of the mothers, who give life. Ancestrally called “cord cutters” in rural areas, they are of vital importance in ensuring the conditions of childbirth and the health of both the mother and the new-born.

In order to fight against the still too high infant and maternal mortality rates in the Central African Republic and the risks of complications, it seemed essential for us at Growa Centre to provide techniques and methods to improve the skills of the midwives, who are often only trained on the job.

They are of vital importance in ensuring the health of both mother and new-born child

The training’s objective

The mission of the matrons begins before the birth by making sure that the mother is in a good situation until the new-born is taken care of, washed and, if born at home, the birth is declared. Our trainings allow us to guarantee and improve all the services and care provided by those who are bringing the country’s future into the world.

The future of each new-born depends on the skills of the nurse or midwife and such responsibilities call for precise training and extra professionalism. On-the-job, improvised and traditional training is a good basis but insufficient to provide all the quality and serenity that the matron must ensure. Growa Centre wants to increase the knowledge of those who allow us to grow and develop.
